Flight

We left the Atlanta airport Tuesday evening with India as our destination. After traveling 11 hours we awakened somewhere over the Black Sea north of Turkey and still had 3 hours to go before our first layover in Dubai, UAE. The little TV screen in the headrest kept us informed of the number of miles we are from Mecca along with an arrow pointing to it in relation to our plane, presumably so one could face the Muslim holy city to pray. We flew over what appeared to be major cities with unfamiliar names like Diyarbakir, Al-Kamishi, and, (this for Grady and Wiley) a city named Batman!

We deplaned for a 7-hour layover in the beautiful Dubai airport-- spotlessly clean, with marble floors throughout. We entertained ourselves by talking with our fellow travelers, Arliss Gray, Jay and Hilde Dryden, and Lynnwood and Janet Cockerham, and playing board games.
